Hello, They Must Be Going
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
You know how this plays: Another fall season full of promises ... new showsintroduced with endless hype ... then, even before all the confetti hassettled, the Grim Reaper makes his entrance. Now death is already in theair with this season officially just two weeks old and with no fewerthan five of the networks' two dozen new series not yet on the air. Aired Monday, October 2, 2006. Dexter's Lemons into Lemonade
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
I'd like to assure you I'm a mild-mannered man. I keep my temper in check. I kill nothing bigger than the occasional mouse -- and nonviolently. Even so, a wonderful new drama called Dexter has me cheering for someone who goes to savage extremes to make sure certain bad guys get the punishment they deserve... Aired Monday, September 25, 2006. [MORE]

Self-Absorbed on The Sunset Strip
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
Sorkin, of course, masterminded "The West Wing," with itstowering issues and huge heart. He created the comedy "SportsNight," whose make-believe sportscast offered a window into the human condition. Aired Monday, September 18, 2006. [MORE]

Pulling Together

This is Associated Press TV writer Frazier Moore watching television for KCRW and still feeling jazzed from a get-together week before last, when Bob Schieffer was saluted at a party the night of his final broadcast anchoring The CBS Evening News... Aired Monday, September 11, 2006. [MORE]

Pride This Fall
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
With the new fall shows ahead, and since pride goeth before the fall, I'm gonna proudly declare this fall season very promising. Why do I say that? Well, when I was screening the series pilots, I found myself assigning them to four broad categories: Excellent, Good, So-so -- with even So-so being watchable -- and Lousy. And just two of the two dozen new shows received my Lousy grade...

Aired Monday, August 28, 2006. [MORE]

Summer Pledge Drive

Aired Monday, August 14, 2006. [MORE]

TV Getaway
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
This is Associated Press TV writer Frazier Moore watching television for KCRW, but not too much this past week. I'm taking a fewdays off. And when I hole up in the country, my rule is: No TV, no computer! Aired Monday, August 7, 2006. [MORE]

Pilots Taking Flight
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
I'm fastening my seat belt for the fall season. It just might be a bumpy ride. Consider: Three dozen new prime-time series will be launched by mid-October, with most them fated to crash and burn-- some without viewers even taking a good look. Aired Monday, July 31, 2006. [MORE]

Aristocratic Joke
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
I'm dumbstruck -- well, almost -- by a documentary that boasts of its "unspeakable obscenity." I'm speaking, of course, of The Aristocrats, which comes to HBO Wednesday at 11p.m. Released in theaters last year, this is the film about the joke...
Aired Monday, July 24, 2006. [MORE]

Not So Revolutionary
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
A 10-year milestone for cable news this past Saturday: On July 15, 1996, just 84 days remained 'til Fox News Channel began. Oh, by the way -- July 15, 1996, was also the day MSNBC signed on. And whatever became of it, some of you may be thinking... Aired Monday, July 17, 2006. [MORE]

Pee-wee's Playhouse Replay

For some of you, references to Miss Yvonne or the King of Cartoons or Jambi the Genie chanting "Meka leka hi, meka hiney ho!" just might draw a blank. But anyone who a couple of decades ago was a kid -- or was an adult drawn to really trippy kids TV -- should recall Pee-wee's Playhouse with fondness....
Aired Monday, July 10, 2006. [MORE]

Join the Brotherhood
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
I'm brimming with glad tidings. Listen: A splendid new series, Brotherhood, is premiering on Showtime Sunday at 10pm. I'll admit it: As a TV critic, I get certain jollies slamming lousy programs. Panning a show sure beats paying for therapy. But what I really THRIVE on -- and I hope other critics would say the same -- is great TV. When I get an early peek at something wonderful, I'm overjoyed to be trumpeting the news. Aired Monday, July 3, 2006. [MORE]

Blond Bombshell
[Listen] [Listen] [Listen]
This is Associated Press TV writer Frazier Moore Watching Television for KCRW, and handing you a sure-fire scheme to be abestselling author and TV personality. I don't know what made me hit on his plan, but it's not something I can take advantage of and maybe youcan. So why not give it a shot? Aired Monday, June 26, 2006. [MORE]
